Members

(a) Permanent Members (i) All Naval Officers on permanent duty in Delhi, unless they are already members of an officer’s mess of their own establishment formed with the approval of the Government.

(ii) Army, Air Force, Coast Guard officers on permanent duty with Navy, or those living in the Mess, whether serving with the Navy or not with approval of PMC.

(iii) Naval Officers, who are already members of another Government approved mess, will also have to apply for permanent membership (additional). Such members will be charged only for subscription of NOI, Sports and SGT or as promulgated.


(b) Temporary Members All serving officers on temporary duty staying at Varuna.


(c) Associate Members (NO 63/03) (i) Limited number of retired Naval Officers will be permitted to enroll as associate members of the Mess at the discretion of the PMC. The membership extended will only be for a period of one year and thereafter may be renewed. At no stage will the number of Associate members exceed 20% (max 100) of other members (Permanent & Honorary).

(ii) Associate members will be required to pay a sum of Rs. 5000/- as refundable security deposit. In addition they will be charged Rs. 2000/per month towards usage of sports facilities which will be levied in advance for a quarter.

(iii) They will be required to observe the Mess rules and discipline while at the Bar or in the Mess premises.

(iv) Every associate member is to be in possession of retired officer identity card while visiting the Mess. Members may be requested to produce identity card for verification by the Mess staff. A list of current associate members is to be available at the Bar at all times.

(v) Associate members are permitted to entertain only their immediate family members in the Mess. No guests will be permitted. Family members are to be in possession of dependant’s identity card.

(vi) They are not allowed to invite foreign personnel in the Mess.

(vii) As and when associate members are allowed to conduct any function/parties, they are to ensure that the dignity and decorum of the mess is maintained and in-living officers are not unnecessarily inconvenienced. They will abide by the instructions issued by the PMC for the conduct of such functions/parties and also the settlement of bills. No credit facilities will be extended to associate members. Advance deposit is to be made in such cases in consultation with the Officer-in-Charge.

(viii) No credit facility will be extended to associate members. Every member will have to open a cash card. The prevailing Mess charges for the cash card will be levied(amount?).


(d) Honorary Members. The honorary membership shall be granted as per laid down regulations in para 4 of NO 63/03, all retired VCNS, C-in-C, COM, COL & DGMS (Navy) may be offered Honorary Membership of Varuna Mess or the Naval Officers Mess closest to his place of residence. Honorary members are to be in possession of Identity Cards which may be requested by the Mess staff for identification.


(e) Temporary Associate Membership Retired Naval Officers from outstation visiting Delhi for short durations will be permitted to use bar facilities after obtaining approval of the PMC/VPMC. These retired officers will be permitted to entertain only their immediate family members in the Mess. No guests will be permitted. Retired officers and their family members are to be in possession of Identity Cards. Charges for the temporary associate membership will be Rs. 50.00 per day. These members will be required to open cash card.


(f) Associate Membership (Army/Airforce) (i) 100 membership under this category have been extended to residents of Shankar Vihar/Anuj Vihar/Vikram Vihar for availing sports facilities.

(ii) Associate members of Army and Air force are required to pay a sum of Rs. 5000/- as refundable security deposit. In addition they will be charged Rs. 2000/per month towards usage of sports facilities which will be levied in advance for a quarter.

(iii) The main building will not be available for use by Associate Army and Air Force members or their families.
